Walking is not just beneficial for our physical health, it boots our self esteem, while also helping to reduce stress and anxiety. Just getting out into nature and giving ourselves the time and space to be active and enjoy such inspiring and beautiful surroundings has huge benefits for our mental health; it lifts our mood and makes us feel energised and alert.
Guided wellbeing walks from Green Space Forest School take place at various locations in the Yorkshire Dales and offer a day's walking at a relaxed pace, although they do require a reasonable level of fitness. The walks usually last between 3- 5 hours and take in a variety of scenery, which can include hills, moorland, riverbanks, woodland and occasionally some remote areas away from footpaths.
Included in the walk are various wellbeing activities that are featured in the woodland wellbeing sessions- activities such as guided meditations, mindful photography, nature journaling and, if walking through woodland, Forest Bathing techniques will be incorporated throughout the day too.
The cost of a guided wellbeing walk is £30 per person. Groups will be kept to a maximum of 10 to allow for a quieter, more relaxed and friendly experience with like minded people.
Please wear appropriate, sturdy footwear and layered clothing/ waterproofs/ hat etc and bring your own refreshments including a packed lunch and enough water for the day. A mobile phone is useful for the purposes of mindful photography, and for capturing those stunning views- or you could bring a camera if you wish.
Please see the booking section on the home page for details about upcoming events. Further information including time and place of meeting will be emailed upon confirmation of booking.
